Artisans of a Divided Nation: Intellectuals and the Imagining of National Identity in Socialist and Post-Socialist MontenegroABSTRACT
This research project explores the role of the intellectual elite in the formation of competing nationalist discourses in both socialist and post-socialist Montenegro. Drawing on extensive documentary sources this study aims to provide a comprehensive account of the intellectual history of the nation-based debates in the intellectual milieu in Montenegro with an emphasis on the contributions intellectuals gave to the national identity (re)construction.
